ABOUT DREW GARLICK
An Englishman living in Chengdu, having moved from Malta with my French wife. All this means that I am pretty open minded when it comes to new opportunities. With my maturity I bring many skills and a lot of experience in dealing with people from all walks of life.
I have had the opportunity to learn so much in my various careers and have been lucky to have been trained by the best in different fields. I’ve had many different experiences that have built me into the skilled professional I am today. Now, I’m looking for new challenges in Chengdu, and I'm sure that I won't be disappointed. PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
My Roles & Responsibilities
Here's a brief overview of the areas where I have expertise and where I hope there may be opportunities in Chengdu. In addition to these areas I’ve also launched a few endeavors of my own, which you can read about below. ENGLISH TEACHER
I have a TESOL teaching qualification from Trinity College, London. I have taught various groups and individuals in private and class-based lessons, at all levels. Positions in Chengdu include teaching at: Pautongshu Primary, Tianfu Campus, grades 1, 2,3 & 4; Harman International (Samsung), Business English; Summit International School, junior and senior grades.
I have specialised in Business English, though I have also taught General and Intensive English. I have experience in class sizes from one to fifty-five. I actively encourage autonomous learning, especially amongst my business students who's time is at a premium.
I have done over three-thousand hours of classroom teaching, though as a Sales Manager, I have had many years experience of training people to do various jobs and would include this in my teaching experience.
The "no nonsense" business classes I have taught in China have been received particularly well. I have taught students from all over the world.
SALES MANAGER
A decisive and pro-active sales professional with proven results and experience in sales, management, training and recruitment, developed over a twenty-year career. An excellent communicator, highly successful at motivating groups and individuals. Confident and able to act effectively under pressure. Able to prospect, build and maintain relationships with clients and personnel. There are only two reasons why staff don't perform effectively: They don't know how or they don't know why - I can identify what the problems are.
CROWD FUNDING
Was responsible for having Blue Plaque installed to commemorate the world famous Wigan Casino Soul Club. From my original idea to unveiling, I raised support and funding for all elements of the project singlehandedly. Money was raise by social networking and crowd funding.
NEW BUSINESS
Have started a financial services company in the city of London which is now fifteen years old. I also started a small business in Malta which posed it's own different and unique challenges.

Whilst I have the Manchester Degree, I have few recognised qualifications. I have come from a poor industrial town and learned how to succeed in all endeavours that I have undertaken. I have experience in various industries. Viz., Teaching, Training, Printing, Financial Services, Banking, Home Improvements, Business Ownership, and Parenting.
